STONER ROCKHi, Peter Hogfeldt from StonerRock.com here...
I got a promo of the album from Schilling... hope the review does some good... Here we go (I also posted links and a tracklist with the review): Liquid Zoo - The Return Of The Fevertree
Swamp Room Records 12” LP Limited Edition - 1000 Copies When the sound of ”Tonite”, the first track on the LP, fills my room, I´m instantly
reminded of On Trial. It´s the same kinda psychedelic rock with a strong late 60´s / early 70´s vibe...
Favorite songs on the first side are the before mentioned ”Tonite”, ”Statue”,
one of those songs that it feels like you´ve heard it before, but can´t quite place it, and ”Deranged”, which sounds like 70´s Yes mixed with Karma To Burn...
Time to flip the disc...
The 2nd side starts out with ”In My Room”, at first it sounded a little countrypopish... but it got better... it ended up sounding like heavy indierock with a psychedelic touch...
”Not Waving But Drowning” once again reminded me about On Trial, this one is a slow, but yet heavy psychedelic rocksong... Together with the last song ”Galaxy Voice” it´s my favorite on the flipside...
If you only like heavier bands like Sleep and Electric Wizard, you should stay away from this release... but on the other hand, if you
like bands like On Trial and Wellwater Conspiracy it´ll be worth checking this band out... If you´re still not shure, there´s some tasters on their website (link below)...
This release is only available on vinyl in a limited edition (1000 copies). And it´s one of those really high grade pressings on thick
black vinyl... not a single scratch or noise... Swamp Room Records seems like a company worth checking out... it´s a vinyl only label...
The owner of the company is Iby Willem, he´s the guitarist in Mandra Gora Lightshow Society (a very interesting psychedelic band, check out the review in the ”Off Topic” section). |
